Iconically voiced, ground breaking comedian Gilbert Gottfried has died at the age of 67 after battling a long illness.

In a statement issued by his family on the official account of the actor and comedy icon, it says: “Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor.”

Gottfried has a long filmography stretching back to his role on SNL in 1980-81 to playing God in an episode of “Smiling Friends” this year. He will arguably most be remembered for his role as the voice of Iago the Parrot in Disney’s animated “Aladdin”.

He also starred in all three “Problem Child” films, the “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” film, the 1994 adaptation of the “Double Dragon” games, and films like “Beverly Hills Cop 2,” “The Adventures of Ford Fairlane,” “Look Who’s Talking Too,” “Highway to Hell,” “Meet Wally Sparks,” “Dr. Dolittle,” “A Million Ways to Die in the West,” and “Life, Animated”. On TV he appeared in countless series, often playing himself.
