Beloved veteran British actor Bernard Cribbins has died, he was 93.
Cribbins’ career spanned seven decades and was known for narrating “The Wombles,” starring in nearly fifty films including Hitchcock’s “Frenzy,” the original “Casino Royale,” the beloved adaptation “The Railway Children” and several entries in the long-running “Carry On” comedy film series.
He also played a notorious guest on “Fawlty Towers,” a killer robot in “Space: 1999,” made recurring appearances on the British soap drama “Coronation Street,” and had two Top 10 music hits with “Hole In The Ground” and “Right Said Fred”.
In the late 2000s, he landed a whole new legion of fans worldwide in the recurring role of Wilfred Mott, grandfather of Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) in “Doctor Who” where he played a big part in David Tennant’s final episodes.
Cribbins was spotted just two months ago filming scenes in the UK alongside Tennant and Tate for the “Doctor Who” 60th anniversary special in what is now likely to be his final on-screen work.
