R.I.P. “Batman” Voice Actor Kevin Conroy

The CW

Prolific voice actor Kevin Conroy has died at the age of 66. Warner Bros. announced the news.

Conroy starred as the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the acclaimed “Batman: The Animated Series” from 1992-96. He continued in the role through nearly 60 different productions across fifteen films, four-hundred episodes of television and multiple video games.

Conroy was also a fixture on the comic convention circuit. Mark Hamill, who played his onscreen foil The Joker, mourned his collaborator in a statement:

“Kevin was perfection. He was one of my favorite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother. He truly cared for the people around him – his decency shone through everything he did. Every time I saw him or spoke with him, my spirits were elevated.”

The “Batman” animated series still resonates decades later with J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves attempting something of a revival. Conroy himself is a big fan of the 1993 animated feature “Batman: Mask of the Phantasm” which many still consider one of (if not the) best Batman films made.
