Famed TV dramatic actress Barbara Bosson has died at the age of 83. Her passing was announced by her son Jesse Bochco on social media.
Bosson was a staple of primetime legal and cop dramas from the 1970s through the 1990s. She arguably remains best known for her major role as Fay Furillo in “Hill Street Blues”, which was created by her then-husband Steven Bochco. Bosson garnered five consecutive Emmy nominations for her work in the role.
She would appear then in various other Bochco productions, including “L.A. Law,” “NYPD Blue” and most famously as Deputy D.A. Miriam Grasso in the ground-breaking serialised courtroom drama series “Murder One” which helped launch the careers of actors like Stanley Tucci, Patricia Clarkson, Adam Scott and Mary McCormack.
She also appeared in numerous films, including small roles in classics like “Bullitt” and “Mame” which lead to larger roles in “Capricorn One” and “The Last Starfighter”. Other series she popped up in included the likes of “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Lois and Clark,” “Murder, She Wrote” and “Mannix”.
Jesse Bochco wrote on Instagram: “More spirit and zest than you could shake a stick at. When she loved you, you felt it without a doubt. If she didn’t, you may well have also known that too. Forever in our hearts. I love you Mama.”
Our sincerest condolences go out to her family, friends and fans.
