“A Quiet Place” star Millicent Simmonds and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” herself Rachel Brosnahan will play famed author and activist Helen Keller and committed yet controlling translator and companion Anne Sullivan respectively in the forthcoming feature “Helen & Teacher” at Killer Films and Sugar23.

Set during the early 1900s, the story follows Keller’s tumultuous time at Radcliffe College at Harvard University when her rapidly expanding worldview and sexual awakening brings her into direct conflict with the conservative Sullivan.

When Sullivan is courted by the young and brilliant publisher, John Macy, tensions escalate between the two women that threaten the bonds of their friendship.

Simmonds is a distant cousin of the real Keller and this marks one of the rare times an actual deaf actress will play the role of Keller onscreen.

Laetitia Mikles and Westmoreland penned the script while Wash Westmoreland (“Still Alice”) directs. Sukee Chew and Pamela Koffler produce and filming begins summer next year.
