Ghost of Yotei
PlayStation-exclusive “Ghost of Yotei” debuted at No.2 in the GSD European sales charts, sales numbers for the title reportedly opening in-line with its 2020 predecessor “Ghost of Tsushima”. ‘Tsushima’ launched during the COVID-19 lockdown year, which drove record numbers for video game sales.
The new title’s launch marks the biggest first-party PlayStation launch on the GSD charts since “Spider-Man 2” in October 2023. The production team has also indicated the budget for the game has come in roughly around the same as ‘Tsushima’ – a decidedly cost-effective $60 million. [Source: The Game Business]
KPop Demon Hunters
Netflix has announced that the sing-along version of its animated smash hit “KPop Demon Hunters” will be returning to cinemas for a limited theatrical event running the weekend of Halloween – Friday October 31st to Sunday November 2nd.
Netflix is also encouraging fans who are attending the limited screenings to dress up as their favorite characters from the movie.
The film will be available at all three major US theatrical chains: AMC, Regal, and Cinemark and in cinemas in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, The UK, Ireland, Korea, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile. [Source: Netflix]
The Daniels
The next film from “Everything Everywhere All at Once ” directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert is currently targeting a November 19th 2027 release date – the Friday before Thanksgiving. Details of the new film are under wraps. [Source: Deadline]
Red, White & Royal Wedding
Amazon MGM Studios announced that “Red, White & Royal Wedding” will be the title of the upcoming sequel to 2023’s gay rom-com hit “Red, White & Royal Blue”. In addition, Jamie Babbit will be directing the sequel, from a script by Gemma Burgess, Matthew López and McQuiston.
Stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar will reprise their roles of Prince Henry anf First Son Alex Claremont-Diaz whose rivalry turned into a secret romantic relationship. No further casting has been announced but Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson and Uma Thurman are likely to return. [Source: Amazon]
Return to Silent Hill
CineVerse, Konami, Bloody Disgusting and Davis Films have released a new featurette for the upcoming “Return to Silent Hill” film. The clip puts a heavy focus on original “Silent Hill 2” game composer Akira Yamaoka who returns to do the scrore here.
Christophe Gans, who directed the original 2006 film adaptation of the game franchise, returns to direct the film starring Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson in a direct adaptation of the “Silent Hill 2” game. It opens in cinemas in January.
