Steven Yeun
Former “The Walking Dead” star Steven Yeun has closed a first-look TV deal with Amazon Studios. Under the pact, Yeun will create television series for Amazon where he will voice the lead character in the animated series “Invincible” shortly. Yeun has gone from strength-to-strength since leaving ‘Dead’ with key roles in some critically acclaimed films of recent years including “Burning,” “Sorry to Bother You,” “Okja,” “Mayhem” and the upcoming “Minari”. Sky
Comcast-owned British TV broadcaster Sky has announced they have halted all drama productions filmed internationally until Spring 2021 – a full year away. The move could be a sign of things to come with other broadcasters, but locally shot and mostly set-based productions like their Mark Strong thriller “Temple” aren’t likely to be impacted as they are more “manageable”. The Edit
Neal Baer (“Designated Survivor,” “Under the Dome”) has signed with Echo Lake Entertainment and will develop the thriller drama “The Edit” with Ricardo Perez Gonzalez. The project deals with CRISPR, the miracle gene-editing tool that homes in on a mutated gene and surgically snips it out – putting in a healthy gene in its place. This explores what happens when the reverse takes place as rogue scientists attempt to eliminate a group of people deemed as undesirable via the machine. [Source: Deadline]
Westworld
This coming Sunday will see the season finale of HBO’s “Westworld” hit screens after a truncated third season that has divided the audience and seemingly taken some of the critical shine off the once celebrated sci-fi series. The show picked up a fourth season renewal last week, a surprise considering the ratings for the new season have plummeted and the showrunners recently set up a major Amazon deal.
Valley Girl
A music video has been released for “Valley Girl,” the upcoming remake of the 1983 romantic comedy with “Happy Death Day” breakout Jessica Rothe starring in the poppy musical. The video, set to The Go-Go’s “We Got The Beat,” also includes cast members Ashleigh Murray, Chloe Bennet and Jessie Ennis.
The film also stars Josh Whitehouse, Mae Whitman, Mario Revolori, Rob Huebel, Judy Greer, Alicia Silverstone, Camila Morrone, and Logan Paul. It hits digital and select drive-in theaters starting on May 8th.
