Quick News Synchronic Blacksmithlight Evil

Well Go USA has acquired the U.S. rights to the sci-fi thriller “Synchronic” starring Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan and which premiered in Toronto earlier this Fall ahead of a 2020 release.

Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson (“Spring,” “The Endless”) direct the film about two paramedics in New Orleans who stumble across a bizarre series of drug-related deaths all tied to a narcotic that does more than just alters consciousness. They try to find its origin when Mackie gets a terminal cancer diagnosis and Dornan’s daughter goes missing. [Source: The Wrap]

The Blacksmith
“Taken” helmer Pierre Morel has signed to direct the action thriller “The Blacksmith” for AGC Studios with filming to commence in 2020. Ben Ripley (“Source Code”) is adapting the script from the graphic novel by Malik Evans and Richard Sparkman.

The story follows Wes Loomis, a ‘blacksmith’ which is the intelligence community’s name for a go-to weapons expert. When his clandestine lab is destroyed and colleagues murdered, he must go on the run with only his unique set of technological skills to keep him alive. [Source: Variety]

A Certain Slant of Light
“Legion” and “Dark Skies” filmmaker Scott Stewart will pen and direct “A Certain Slant of Light,” based on Laura Whitcomb’s best-selling novel, at Amazon Studios. Jeff Okin and Kerry Roberts will produce.

The story follows Helen, the ghost of a young woman who, for a 150 years, has existed as an invisible presence clinging to an ever growing chain of living hosts. Now, while haunting a contemporary high school English teacher, she makes the shocking discovery that a troubled student is able to see her for the first time since her death. Most Evil
Daniel Robbins has signed on to direct the horror tale “Most Evil” at Orion Pictures. Benjamin and Paul China are penning the script while Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger will produce.

The story follows a group of twentysomethings who take a business tycoon’s daughter hostage in a failed robbery attempt and realize they’re in over their heads when the girl turns out to not be as innocent as she appears. [Source: Bloody Diagusting]
