The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar
Wes Anderson’s 39-minute short film “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar,” based on the Roald Dahl short story, has set a September 27th release date on Netflix. Ralph Fiennes, Benedict Cumberbatch, Dev Patel, Ben Kingsley, and Richard Ayoade star.
The story deals with a rich man who learns about a guru who can see without using his eyes and then sets out to master the skill in order to cheat at gambling. [Source: Netflix]
Meg 2: The Trench
The Jason Statham-led gigantic prehistoric shark film “Meg 2: The Trench” is coming to digital with the movie set to launch tomorrow (August 25th) on VOD services like iTunes and Amazon for purchase or PVOD rental.
Additionally the film htis 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 24th. Despite a soft opening weekend of $30 million domestic, the movie has been a hit overseas, where it has taken more than $300 million so far. [Source: Collider]
Challengers
Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming tennis-themed rom-com “Challengers” sees acclaimed British actor Josh O’Connor playing Patrick, an aging tennis player.
In a new interview with VMan, O’Connor confirmed modeled his Challengers’ character after the highly polarizing Nick Kyrgios who the actor says has a “kind of fiery temper. Literally, his mood can change on a dime. So watching him was really helpful to me.”
Star Trek
To celebrate Star Trek Day on September 8th, Paramount+ is set to bring “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” to CBS. The broadcaster will air the first two episodes of the show’s first season back-to-back on the network from 8PM US-ET. The airing is a part of the celebrations for the day.
Other events include theatrical screenings of four specially selected episodes of “Star Trek: Lower Decks” in cities across the U.S., the UK and Canada; a freely available special hosted by “Lower Decks” voice actor Jerry O’Connell; and a sale on Star Trek merchandise on the official site.
