Untitled Snoop Dogg Biopic
The Craig Brewer-directed Snoop Dogg biopic at Universal Pictures has hired “Outer Banks” actor Jonathan Daviss in the lead role. Brewer is currently revising Joe Robert Cole script which tells the story of Calvin Broadus Jr.’s eventful journey along his path to fame as Snoop Dogg. Dogg, Brian Grazer and Sara Ramaker will produce. [Source: THR]
Untitled Christy Martin Biopic
Sydney Sweeney has revealed that her training to star as boxer Christy Martin in a new biopic involved her kickboxing two hours a day, weight-training two hours a day and putting on 30 pounds all over the course of about three and a half months. David Michôd directs the film and says Sweeney “trained her butt off to play the part”. [Source: W Magazine]
Apple TV+
Apple TV+ has released a promo touting its upcoming releases, saying there’s a “new release every week” on the service. The clip touts new films like Spike Lee’s “Highest 2 Lowest” and Paul Greengrass’ “The Lost Bus”.
There’s also new series like the Jason Momoa-led “Chief of War,” “The Last Frontier” and “The Savant” along with returning series “Foundation,” “Invasion,” “Platonic,” “Slow Horses,” “The Morning Show” and “Loot”.
Twisted Metal
Peacock has unleashed a new two-minute clip from the upcoming second season of its video game-to-TV series adaptation “Twisted Metal”. Plenty of vehicular mayhem can be seen as Anthony Carrigan’s Calypso sets off a race and the vehicles initially try and take as many others out as they can.
Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, Neve Campbell, Joe Seanoa and Will Arnett return for the new season and are joined by the likes of Patty Guggenheim, Richard de Klerk and Lisa Gilroy. The longer twelve-episode second season arrives on July 31st though it’s unclear if this will be a binge release like the first or a weekly.
