School for Good and Evil
Filmmaker Paul Feig has released a photo of himself alongside Kerry Washington and Charlize Theron in costume on the set of Feig’s film adaptation of Soman Chainani’s “The School for Good and Evil” at Netflix.
The story follows a group of young people who are whisked away to a mysterious school to be trained to become powerful beings. Some of the young adults will use their power for good, while others will use them for nefarious purposes. [Source: Twitter]
The Time Runner
Paramount Pictures has acquired film rights to “The Time Runner” and set “The Maze Runner” trilogy director Wes Ball to direct. Steve Desmond & Michael Sherman will write the script based on Sherman’s novella. The storyline is being kept under wraps and Ball is still on track to next direct a “Planet of the Apes” reboot for 20th Century Studios. [Source: Deadline]
Beast
Universal Pictures has set an August 19th 2022 release date for Idris Elba’s survival thriller “Beast”. Baltasar Kormakur (“2 Guns,” “Contraband”) helms from a script by Ryan Engle (“Rampage,” “Non-Stop”)
The story follows a father and his two teenage daughters who find themselves hunted by a massive rogue lion intent on proving that this game reserve they were visiting has but one apex predator. [Source: Universal Pictures]
Nemesis
Oscar-winning writer Emerald Fennell (“Promising Young Woman”) has reportedly penned the latest draft of the script for “Nemesis,” the Warner Brothers film adaptation of “Kick-Ass,” “Kingsman” and “Jupiter’s Legacy” writer Mark Millar’s comic. Millar himself revealed the hire in a recent interview.
The story follows a wealthy sociopath that becomes the world’s greatest villain as a way to cure his boredom. Fennell served as head writer for the second season of “Killing Eve” and is set to draft a script for DC’s “Zatanna”. [Source: The Playlist]
