The Sandman
Netflix has revealed that the upcoming second season of its Neil Gaiman comic adaptation “The Sandman” will go for twelve episodes now, not eleven, thanks to a bonus episode on July 31st titled “The Sandman Presents: Death: The High Cost of Living”.

That episode will focus on the character Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) and follows after the second which airs the six episode Part 1 on July 3rd and the next five on July 24th. [Variety]

Warner Bros. Discovery
Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders have voted to reject the 2024 compensation packages of its top executives, including CEO David Zaslav, during the company’s annual meeting on Monday. The vote, counted by shares, came in at 1.063 billion to 724.4 million. However, the vote is nonbinding so it is only symbolic in nature.

In a statement following the vote, the Warner Bros. Discovery board said it “appreciates the views of all its shareholders and takes the results of the annual advisory vote on executive compensation seriously”. Zaslav’s 2024 compensation package rose to $51.9 million. [Source: THR]

Animal Friends
Warner Bros Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have pushed the live-action/animated hybrid comedy film “Animal Friends” back by seven months – from October 10th this year to May 1st 2026.

Peter Atencio directs while Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider penned the film with the voice cast including Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Aubrey Plaza, Addison Rae, Dan Levy, Lil Rel Howery and Ellie Bamber. [Source: Deadline]

Barney
“The Bear” star Ayo Edebiri confirms she is writing the Daniel Kaluuya-produced film adaptation of the “Barney the Dinosaur” franchise for A24. She tells The Wall Street Journal this week: “I was just thinking of, what are the movies that I want to make?… So I just had this idea, and then we started building it out together.” [Source: The Wall Street Journal]

Vision
Emily Hampshire (“The Rig,” “Schitt’s Creek”) is joining the MCU, starring opposite Paul Bettany in the forthcoming “Vision” TV series which Terry Matalos will produce. She joins a cast that includes Paul Bettany, James Spader, Faran Tahir and T’Nia Miller.

Hampshire is believed to be playing “the sophisticated artificial intelligence E.D.I.T.H. (Even Dead, I’m The Hero), Tony Stark’s augmented reality security and defense system. She takes over from Dawn Michelle King who played the role in “Spider-Man: Far From Home”. [Source: Variety]

Snow White
Disney has announced a June 11th SVOD release on Disney+ of its live-action “Snow White” adaptation. The film pulled in a worldwide gross of over $200 million at the box office against a reported budget of around $350 million.

Rachel Zegler stars in the title role alongside Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, Andrew Burnap as Jonathan, Ansu Kaiba as the Huntsman, Martin Klebba as Grumpy, Patrick Page as the voice of the Magic Mirror, and more. [Source: Disney]
