Pinocchio
Roadside Attractions has set a Christmas Day wide release in the United States for the Roberto Benigni-led English-language version of Monatteo Garrone’s re-imagining of “Pinocchio”.
Roadside is hoping to debut the movie in more than 2,000 theaters, though in recent days hundreds of cinemas have been forced to reclose because of the ongoing pandemic. Those that remain open need product. [Source: Roadside Attractions]
Surface
Gugu Mbatha-Raw (“The Morning Show”) will topline psychological thriller “Surface” which has been picked up straight to series at Apple TV+ with an eight-episode order. Reese Witherspoon will executive produce.
Additional details are being kept under wraps but the series based on an original idea from Veronica West (“High Fidelity”). Production is slated to begin in 2021 and a premiere date has not yet been determined. [Source: The Live Feed]
Bullet Train
Hiroyuki Sanada (“Sunshine,” “Westworld”) will join the ensemble of David Leitch’s “Bullet Train” at Sony Pictures. Based on the Japanese novel “Maria Beetle,” the story involves multiple assassins fighting onboard a high-speed commuter train.
Brad Pitt, Michael Shannon, Mas Oka, Joey King, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry and Zazie Beetz are also starring while Zak Olkewitz and both Antoine Fuqua and Kelly McCormick are producing. [Source: Variety]
Euphoria
A brief first teaser is out for the first of two “Euphoria” season specials, this one titled “Part 1: Rue” which comes to HBO Max on December 6th. The special picks up after the first season finale and sees Rue (Zendaya) in a diner contemplating her life when she runs into Ali (Colman Domingo) whom she met at her Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
