Nintendo Direct
Nintendo has announced a new 40 minute-long Nintendo Direct presentation which will focus on games launching later this year on the Switch.
The presentation, which will likely include talk of the new OLED Switch and the upcoming “Metroid Dread,” will take place later today – specifically Thursday September 23rd at 6pm US-ET, 3am US-PT, 11pm UK-GMT and on Friday September 24th at 6am AU-EST. [Source: Twitter]
Comcast XiOne
Comcast has announced the launch of XiOne, a new wireless streaming device that aims to compete with Roku, Apple TV, Google Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV. The device will support Wi-Fi 6, 4K UHD, HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and also features a voice-enabled remote.
The XiOne will launch in Europe with the first delivery of video services over internet protocol for Sky customers. In the U.S., the rollout will begin to customers with Xfinity Flex with the device available across more channels and to its Xfinity X1 customers and syndication partners. [Source: Business Wire]
Cure
A trailer is out for the upcoming 4K restoration re-release of Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s breakthrough 1997 psychological thriller “Cure” starring Koji Yakusho. Janus Films will release the film on October 1st with a Criterion disc release to follow at some point.
A string of shocking, seemingly unmotivated murders – different killers, same hallmarks – leads a detective into a disturbing game of cat and mouse with an enigmatic amnesiac (Masato Hagiwara).
Ghostbusters
Sony Pictures Australia has released the new one-sheet for “Ghostbusters:Â Afterlife” which is coming out from November 19th in the U.S. and globally in the weeks to follow with Australia getting it New Year’s Day. Jason Reitman helms the film.
