NBC has handed out a series order for the multicamera sequel to the 1980s/1990s sitcom “Night Court” starring Melisssa Rauch and John Larroquette for Warner Bros. TV and Universal TV.

The new series follows the unapologetically optimistic Judge Abby Stone (Rauch) as she follows in her dad’s footsteps and presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court. Larroquette reprises his role as former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding. [Source: Variety]

Beasts of Prey
Netflix is set to develop Ayana Gray’s fantasy novel “Beasts of Prey” as a feature. Melody Cooper will adapt the screenplay for Clubhouse Pictures.

The story follows two Black teenagers who strike a dangerous alliance and head out on a journey to hunt down the vicious monster menacing their hometown, uncovering deadly secrets along the way. [Source: THR]

I Wanna Dance with Somebody
Stanley Tucci has been set to play Grammy-winning producer Clive Davis in the Kasi Lemmons-directed Whitney Houston biopic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” opening December 23rd 2022.

Davis was the lawyer-turned-music producer who discovered the talented Houston (Naomi Ackie) before anyone knew who she was and guided her to becoming a star. Anthony McCarten pens the script. [Source: Deadline]

Batgirl
British composer Natalie Holt (“Loki”) has been set as the composer on the soundtrack of HBO Max’s “Batgirl” movie. Leslie Grace will star as the titular heroine in the film which is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah from a script by Christina Hodson (“Birds of Prey’). J.K. ABC has premiered the trailer for the upcoming fifth season of “The Good Doctor” starring Freddie Highmore. The series follows an autistic surgeon who works at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. New episodes return on Monday, September 27th.
