NCIS: Los Angeles
CBS has renewed both of its spin-off series “NCIS: LA” and “NCIS: New Orleans,” the orders following on from the renewal “NCIS” scored earlier this month. The three shows join “Young Sheldon,” “Mom,” “Criminal Minds,” “Blue Bloods,” “FBI,” “God Friended Me,” “The Neighborhood” and “Magnum PI” to be picked up for next season. [Source: The Wrap]

Good Sam
Netflix has set a May 16th premiere date for “Good Sam,” a feature based on Dete Meserve’s mystery book series. Kate Melville is directing from a script by Meserve and Teena Booth.

The story follows intrepid TV news reporter Kate Bradley (Tiya Sircar) who is assigned to uncover the identity of a mysterious Good Samaritan who has been anonymously leaving $100,000 cash gifts on the doorsteps of seemingly random New Yorkers. [Source: Deadline]

Marry Me
Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson are in final negotiations to join the romantic comedy “Marry Me” at STXfilms. Kat Coiro is directing from a script by Harper Dill, John Rogers and Tami Sagher and shooting begins this Fall. Lopez and Wilson both appeared in 1997’s “Anaconda.”

Based on a graphic novel by Bobby Crosby and centers on a pop star (Lopez), who, moments before marrying her rockstar fiance at Madison Square Garden, finds out that he cheated on her with her assistant. She breaks down on stage and picks a random man (Wilson) out of the crowd to marry instead. [Source: Variety]

The Half of It
Netflix has started production on filmmaker Alice Wu’s “The Half of It,” a ‘modern-day Cyrano-meets-Pygmalion’ which serves as a follow-up to her 2004 feature “Saving Face”. The story follows a shy, introverted, Chinese-American, straight-A student (Leah Lewis) finds herself helping the school jock woo the girl they both secretly love. In the process, each teaches the other about the nature of love. Daniel Diemer, Alexxis Lemire, Becky Ann Baker and Catherine Curtin co-star. [Source: Deadline]

HBO has released a featurette for the historical drama miniseries “Chernobyl,” one which highlights the series production scale and story. Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgard and Emily Watson co-star in the five-part miniseries which is based on the Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion on April 26th 1986. The story explores the lives of the men and women who acted heroically to mitigate the catastrophic damage that devastated the former Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
