The Munsters
The first photo has been released of “Lost” actor Jorge Garcia’s character Floop, the hunchback assistant of Dr. Wolfgang and best friend to Herman Munster (Jeff Daniel Phillips), in Rob Zombie’s new “The Munsters” movie.

A Man Called Otto
Sony Pictures has won a bidding war for the Tom Hanks-led comedy “A Man Called Otto” with Marc Forster set to direct and David Magee penning based on the Swedish novel and 2015 film “A Man Called Ove”. Filming begins later this month in Pittsburgh.

The film centers on Otto (Hanks), a temperamental widower who slowly finds value in developing friendships with his neighbors as he keeps a close watch on the community. [Source: THR]

Upgrade
Amblin Partners have announced that they have acquired the film rights to Blake Crouch’s upcoming sci-fi thriller novel “Upgrade” with Crouch to adapt his own book.

In the film a brother and sister, both unwittingly enhanced with genetically engineered upgrades, square off against each other in a dangerous battle of conflicting schemes to save humanity from itself. [Source: Amblin]

9 Bullets
Screen Media has acquired North American rights to Gigi Gaston’s crime thriller “9 Bullets” starring Lena Headey and Sam Worthington with plans for a day-and-date release in April. Dean Scott Vasquez, Cam Gigandet, La La Anthony, Martin Sensmeier and Barbara Hershey also star.

The story centers on a showgirl (Headey), who risks everything when she rescues a young boy after his family is murdered by her local crime-boss ex-boyfriend (Worthington). Now on the run, she makes a desperate attempt to get the boy safely to his uncle in South Dakota. [Source: Variety]

Honk for Jesus
Focus Features, Peacock and Monkeypaw Productions have acquired worldwide rights to Adamma Ebo’s “Honk For Jesus” with plans for a day-and-date launch in theatres and on Peacock later this year.

Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown star in the film about the first lady of a prominent Southern Baptist megachurch who attempts to help her pastor husband rebuild their congregation in the aftermath of a scandal. [Source: Screen Daily]

Vengeance
Focus Features has set a July 29th release for B.J. Novak’s feature directorial debut “Vengeance”. Issa Rae, Ashton Kutcher, Boyd Holbrook, J. Smith-Cameron, and Dove Cameron star.

The darkly comic thriller follows a journalist and podcaster who travels from New York City to West Texas to investigate the death of a girl he was hooking up with. Jason Blum, Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath produce. [Source: Deadline]
