Magic Mike’s Last Dance
Matthew McConaughey hasn’t shut out the possibility of reprising his iconic role of Dallas from the original “Magic Mike” for the upcoming third film which begins shooting next month in London and Italy.
Asked if he’ll be back, he tells Variety: “I don’t know. I’d have to read [the script] first. It was a helluva lot of fun doing the first one. Channing Tatum, call me, bro! I haven’t heard from ya!.” [Source: Variety]
Onyeka and the Academy of the Sun
Westbrook Studios and Yoruba Saxon are teaming to produce a film based on British-Nigerian author Tola Okogwu’s middle-grade kids novel series “Onyeka and the Academy of the Sun” at Netflix.
The story follows a teenager who learns she has powers and travels to Nigeria to learn more about her origins and her newfound magical community. Ola Shokunbi is set to write the adaptation while Will Smith, David Oyelowo and Jon Mone will produce. [Source: Variety]
Knock at the Cabin
Rupert Grint and Nikki Amuka-Bird have joined Dave Bautista in M. Night Shyamalan’s next thriller feature “Knock at the Cabin” for Universal Pictures.
Plot specifics are under wraps but Shyamalan will write, direct and produce the film which Universal Pictures will release theatrically on February 3rd 2023. Both actors have worked with the director before on the series “Servant” and the film “Old” respectively. [Source: Deadline]
Carrier
Kate Bosworth is in advanced talks while Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and Lin Shaye are attached to star in Renny Harlin’s horror-thriller “Carrier”. Filming is slated to commence in Fall 2022.

Friend of the Family
Anna Paquin, Jake Lacy, Colin Hanks, and Lio Tipton will star in the true-crime series “A Friend of the Family” for Peacock. “The Act” co-creator Nick Antosca is serving as showrunner.
The true story tale deals with young woman Jan Broberg who was kidnapped multiple times over a period of years by a charismatic, obsessed family ‘friend’ who used sophisticated tactics against Broberg’s family. [Source: Variety]
