James Franco is set to join Tom Hollander and Daisy Jacob in Bille August’s post-WW2 coming-of-age drama “Me, You” which begins shooting on location on the Italian island of Ischia in September.
Greg Latter penned the script about 16-year-old Marco who meets the mysterious concentration camp survivor Caia (Jacob) plans to win her affecting by setting fire to a villa occupied by a group of boorish German tourists. Franco plays a U.S. GI turned fisherman. [Source: Variety]
Madame Web
Mike Epps has joined S.J. Clarkson’s Marvel-Sony feature “Madame Web” alongside Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Celeste O’Connor and Tahar Rahim.
Details of Epps’ role haven’t been revealed. The film follows the origin of the character who in the comic is an elderly psychic woman connected to a life-support system resembling a spider web. [Source: Deadline]
We Met in Virtual Reality
HBO Max has premiered the trailer for the documentary “We Met in Virtual Reality” which follows the lives of several people who spend a lot of their time in VR Chat. What separates this is the film is created entirely in VR, so all the talking interviews are with avatars in VR landscapes. The doco debuts on HBO and HBO Max on July 27th.
Great Expectations
FX and BBC have released the first photos for the upcoming six-part miniseries adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations” which hails from the “Taboo” team of creator Steven Knight along with executive producers Tom Hardy and Ridley Scott.
The shots showcase Oscar winner Olivia Colman’s portrayal of Miss Havisham with the series also starring Fionn Whitehead, Ashley Thomas, Johnny Harris and Matt Berry.
