Marry Me
Universal Pictures has pushed back the release of the Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson-led romance comedy “Marry Me” from February 12th 2021 to May 14th 2021. The film will now open against animated feature “Rumble”. DreamWorks Animation’s “Spirit Untamed,” which was in the May 14th slot, will now arrive June 4th. Kat Coiro helms the film. [Source: THR]

Monster
Netflix has acquired the rights to filmmaker Anthony Mandler’s “Monster” (formerly titled “All Rise”) starring Jennifer Hudson, Kelvin Harrison Jr., John David Washington, Jeffrey Wright, Jharrel Jerome, Jennifer Ehle and Tim Blake Nelson in a title that launched at Sundance. The movie follows a 17-year-old honor student (Harrison) from Harlem whose world comes crashing down around him when he is charged with felony murder. [Source: THR]

Fireheart
Olivia Cooke, Kenneth Branagh, William Shatner and Laurie Holden will lead the voice cast of L’Atelier Animation’s upcoming animated adventure “Fireheart”. Set in the 1920s, the story revolves around 16-year-old Georgia Nolan (Cooke) who has the impossible dream of becoming a firefighter at a time when women are not allowed to serve.

When a mysterious arsonist starts burning down Broadway, one by one all the firemen in the city disappear. Her beloved father, Shawn (Branagh), is called out of retirement by the Mayor of NY (Shatner) to lead the investigation as Captain in the FDNY. Desperate to help her father and save her city, Georgia resorts to disguising herself as a young man and joins the small group of misfit firefighters trying to stop the arsonist. [Source: Variety]

Strangers
Maya Hawke (“Stranger Things”) and Camila Mendes (“Riverdale’) have officially been cast in the leading roles in Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s dark comedy film “Strangers” for Netflix. A loose spin on the “Strangers on a Train” premise, the story follows teen girls Drew and Eleanor who, after a clandestine meet-cute, team up to go after each other’s bullies. Robinson directs from a screenplay she co-wrote with Celeste Ballard. [Source: Deadline]
