The King
Netflix has released the first official photo from David Michod’s “The King,” a new film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Henry IV, Parts 1 & 2” and “Henry V”. Michod (“The Rover,” “Animal Kingdom”) co-wrote the script with Joel Edgerton.

Timothee Chalamet leads the cast of the story in which a wayward prince ascends the English Throne upon his father’s death, at which point he must navigate the politics of the war-torn kingdom. Robert Pattinson, Ben Mendelsohn, Sean Harris, and Edgerton co-star in the film which is aiming for a Fall release on the service. [Source: Netflix]

Challenger Deep
Disney+ has acquired the screen rights to Neal Shusterman’s novel “Challenger Deep” and has set “Toy Story 4” writer Will McCormack to pen the screenplay. Justin Springer, Trevor Engelson and Josh McGuire will produce.

The book follows Caden Bosch, who lives in two different worlds – a semi-normal life with his family and friends, and one where he’s part of a pirate crew on a voyage to the ocean’s deepest trench – Challenger Deep. Along the way, Caden endures a captain and his mutinous parrot, not to mention the mutterings of his fellow shipmates. [Source: Deadline]

The Report
Scott Z. Burns’ “The Report”, which was originally slated to hit cinemas on September 27th, will not score a theatrical debut on November 15th followed by an Amazon Prime Video launch on November 29th. Adam Driver stars as an idealistic staffer tasked by his boss, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Annette Bening), to lead an investigation into the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation Program created in the aftermath of 9/11.

Tenacious by nature, he pursues the truth and uncovers a conspiracy by top government officials to destroy evidence, subvert the law and hide a brutal secret from the American public. Jon Hamm, Maura Tierney and Michael C. Hall also star. [Source: Deadline]

Covers
Grammy-winning DJ Diplo will join Dakota Johnson, Ice Cube, Bill Pullman, Tracee Ellis Ross, Zoe Chao, June Diane Raphael, Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Eddie Izzard in the musical comedy “Covers” for Focus Features and Working Title Films.

Set in the fast-paced Hollywood music scene, this explores the talent and fame that exists there. Nisha Ganatra (“Late Night”) helms from a screenplay by Flora Greeson. Production has already begun in Los Angeles. [Source: Deadline]

Force of Nature
Newcomer Stephanie Cayo is set to join Mel Gibson, Kate Bosworth and Emile Hirsch in the Michael Polish-directed action movie “Force of Nature” with Michael Polish directing. Shooting is underway in Puerto Rico.

Cory Miller wrote the script, which centers on a retired detective who must protect residents of a building that’s the subject of a hurricane evacuation while criminals attempt to pull off a robbery there. Randall Emmett, George Furla with Luillo Ruiz are producing. [Source: Variety]
