Sandman
After many years in development, a TV series adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s most iconic work, the Vertigo Comics title “Sandman,” was in the works at Netflix. Then the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the projects development.
Now, Gaiman has offered an update saying the first season scripts are all written, and right before the shutdown casting had started, directors had been hired, and sets were being built. Gaiman himself wants to be clear it’s just a hiatus, saying: “As soon as the world is ready to make TV drama, Sandman will move smoothly back into being made.” [Source: Neil-Gaiman.com]
Peter Sellers: A State Of Comic Ecstasy
BBC Two has announced plans for a documentary about legendary comedian Peter Sellers from acclaimed factual producer Brook Lapping.
The 75-minute feature will uncover the comedian’s talent, but also the endless complexities of his personal life, from multiple marriages to his chronic health problems, petulant fits of rage, deep insecurity and the long slow decline in his later years. [Source: Variety]
STX Films
STX Entertainment and India’s Eros International have signed a deal to merge into Eros STX Global Corporation, a new and publicly traded media company that aims to produce and distribute both Bollywood and Hollywood across film, TV and streaming.
Eros International already has 188 million users through its streaming service Eros Now, including over 26 million paid subscribers for a library of more than 12,000 Hindi and regional languages. [Source: Deadline]
