Retired UFC Middleweight Champion and Hall of Famer Michael Bisping (“xXx: Return Of Xander Cage,” “Den of Thieves”) will lead an adaptation of Mark Turley’s novel “The Journeyman”. Dax Phelan will helm the UK shot film which he and the author co-adapted the script for. Eric M. Klein and Phelan are producing

Bisping will play Kenny ‘The Beas’’ Breen, an alcoholic, drug-abusing, past-his-prime journeyman boxer with a record of 11-85-0 who, after being diagnosed with neurological damage, continues his career on the small-hall circuit at grave risk to himself. [Source: Deadline]

Let Him Go
Focus Features’ Kevin Costner and Diane Lane-led “Let Him Go” topped the box-office over the weekend with an estimated $4.1 million and scored in second with “Come Play” which added a further $1.7 million. Focus is a part of the Universal-AMC deal and so these films can be released via on-demand platforms within 17 days of their theatrical debuts. [Source: Variety]

100 Days to Live
Cinedigm has acquired North American distribution rights to Ravin Gandhi’s psychological thriller “100 Days To Live” which is set in the world of suicide prevention and mental health which premiered at the San Diego International Film Festival. An early 2021 release is planned across major digital platforms.

The story follows a woman who grapples with her inner demons by running a suicide support group in Chicago. But when her fiance is kidnapped by a known murderer, she must race against the clock to discover the identity of the killer, and more importantly – his motive. Colin Egglesfield, Gideon Emery, Heidi Johanningmeier, Yancey Arias and Chris Johnson co-star. [Source: Business Wire]

Star Wars
In the Fall, “Russian Doll” co-creator and “Bachelorette” filmmaker Leslye Headland was reported as being set to write and serve as showrunner on a female-centric “Star Wars” series for the Disney+ service.

A report at Deadline suggests that the series is “believed to be a female-driven action thriller with martial arts elements and set in an alternate timeline from the usual Star Wars universe”. Headland later said to Fantastic Frankey that the series is “in a pocket of the universe and a pocket of the timeline that we don’t know much about.”

Pups Alone
Jennifer Love Hewitt, Keith David and Eric Roberts are attached to live-action family feature “Pups Alone”. The story follows a ragtag group of neighborhood dogs who team up to save Christmas from two bumbling thieves and their scheming boss. Love Hewitt will lend her voice while David, Roberts and Brandon Burrows will have on screen roles. The film is currently in production and helmed by Alex Merkin. [Source: Deadline]
