Steven Spielberg’s “Jaws” is coming to 4K Ultra HD for the first time ever on June 2nd. The 45th Anniversary Limited Edition release includes a 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and Digital code of the film along with over three hours of bonus features and a 44-page booklet with introductions, rare photos, deleted scenes, set outtakes, storyboards and more. The release will also be include all three main forms of HDR: Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HDR 10 along with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack. [Source: Home Theater Forum]

R.I.P. Allen Daviau
Oscar-nominated cinematographer Allen Daviau, a frequent collaborator with Steven Spielberg, has died from complications related to Covid-19. He was 77. Daviau’s work includes “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” “Empire of the Sun,” “Bugsy,” “Avalon,” “The Color Purple,” “The Astronaut’s Wife” and “Van Helsing.” [Source: CNN]

Alien Nation
Jeff Nichols’ planned remake of Fox’s “Alien Nation” may have been scrapped with the Disney acquisition of the studio, but his frequent collaborator and acclaimed actor Michael Shannon has revealed the project “might mutate into something else”.

Shannon says “it’s not necessarily entirely gone. It’s still kind of kicking around out there, but it might be something different.” The original film takes place in a version of Los Angeles where humans live alongside extraterrestrial humanoid beings whose spaceship crash-landed three years earlier. This coexistence is not always harmonious. James Caan and Mandy Patinkin co-starred. [Source: THR]

Broadway on Demand
The new streaming service Broadway on Demand is said to be targeting a US launch next month and will compete against the established BroadwayHD for theater viewers. It will launch with a live concert series titled “30 Days of Opening Nights” from Hollywood’s Bourbon Room.

The membership-based service promises a library of content, including more than 100 archived shows from around the world, exclusive livestream events, interactive platforms, and educational resources. [Source: Deadline]
