Hush
Filmmaker Mike Flanagan has confirmed that his home invasion thriller film “Hush” has left Netflix following its license for the film expiring after seven years. In a follow-up tweet he seems to hint at a physical release of the film. The acclaimed 2016 horror film stars Kate Siegel as a deaf-mute horror author whose home is broken into by a masked murderer (John Gallagher Jr.). [Source: Twitter]
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One
Filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie has confirmed that a single shot from last year’s trailer for “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” has been moved from that film to the follow-up ‘Part Two’ due in 2024. He adds: “Whether it survives in II is anybody’s guess.” [Source: Twitter]
Lore
Universal Pictures will develop a film adaption of Alexandra Bracken’s New York Times best-seller “Lore” as a feature with Amy Pascal attached to produce. Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse will pen the screenplay.
The novel deals with the Agon, a divine hunt that occurs every seven years as punishment for a past rebellion by nine Greek gods,who are forced to walk the earth as mortals and be hunted. One young woman chooses to enter the Agon to avenge her family’s death with the help of a childhood friend and the goddess Athena. [Source: THR]
Untitled Formula 1 Project
Damson Idris (“Snowfall”) will appear opposite Brad Pitt in the new Formula One racing film from “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Oblivion” director Joseph Kosinski at Apple Original Films, Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Plan B Entertainment.
Kosinski will produce the feature alongside seven-time Formula One champion Sir Lewis Hamilton, while Ehren Kruger is writing the screenplay about Pitt as a former driver who returns to the sport. Idris will play his teammate. [Source: Variety]
Night Swim
Universal Pictures has moved up the release date for Bryce McGuire’s horror thriller “Night Swim” by two weeks – the film now opening on January 5th 2024. The first weekend of the year has proven very good for horror films, as “M3GAN” showed this year.
