Minamata
The Andrew Levitas-directed and Johnny Depp-led “Minamata” has been given a U.S. theatrical release date of December 15th. Originally set for release at MGM, North American distribution will now be handled by Iervolino and Lady Bacardi Entertainment (ILBE) and Samuel Goldwyn Films.
The film tells the true story of war photographer W. Eugene Smith (Depp) who journeys to Japan in the 1970s in order to record the crimes of a giant corporation against neighboring small towns. [Source: Deadline]

William Shatner’s visit to actual space on Blue Origin will be documented in the new Amazon one-hour special “Shatner in Space” premiering December 15th in the U.S., Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Other territories will receive it in early 2022. [Source: Amazon]
Kandahar
Filming has begun in Saudi Arabia on the Gerard Butler-led action movie “Kandahar” from Thunder Road Films and Capstone. Ric Roman Waugh (“Greenland”) directs.
Butler stars as Tom Harris, an undercover CIA operative, stuck deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan. He must fight his way out, alongside his Afghan translator.
