DeadEndia
Netflix has handed out a series order for their newest 2D animated horror-comedy series “DeadEndia” based on author Hamish Steele’s graphic novel series of the same name. Emily Osment, Zach Barack, and Kody Kavitha lend their voices to the show which will debut in 2021.

The story follows Barney, Norma and magical-talking-dog Pugsley as they balance their summer jobs at the local theme park haunted house while battling the totally real supernatural forces that dwell within it. Joining them is a sardonic thousand-year-old demon named Courtney who will help them face zombie mascots, demonic game show hosts, sleep-sucking witches and their first crushes. [Source: Netflix]

Midas Man
Multi-Grammy winning director Jonas Akerlund (“Polar,” “Lords of Chaos”) has been set to direct “Midas Man,” a film about The Beatles manager and music impresario Brian Epstein. The project will be shot in London, Liverpool and the U.S. for release in 2021.

Epstein discovered The Beatles and they signed a contract with him in 1961. He also worked with music artists such as Gerry and the Pacemakers and Cilla Black, and helped promote musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Cream and Pink Floyd. [Source: Variety]

Blue Bayou
Focus Features has scored worldwide rights to “Ms. Purple” and “Gook” filmmaker Justin Chon’s “Blue Bayou” from MACRO and eOne. Chon stars as Antonio LeBlanc, a Korean adoptee raised in the United States who is forced to confront his distant past and what it means for his own future and his family’s when he unexpectedly faces deportation. Alicia Vikander, Mark O’Brien, Linh Dan Pham and Emory Cohen co-star. [Source: Focus Features]

An American Pickle
Picked up by HBO Max after Sony has foregone a theatrical release, new photos have been released from Seth Rogen’s new comedy in which he plays 1920s immigrant Herschel Greenbaum who has been found a hundred years later after brining himself in a vat of pickles. Now alive in the 21st century, he has to navigate the modern world with the help of his app developer great-grandson (also Rogen). “An American Pickle” arrives on HBO Max on August 6th.
