Daredevil: Born Again
Nikki M. James (“Severance,” “Spoiler Alert”) has been cast in Marvel Studios’ “Daredevil: Born Again” revival series on the Disney+ service, which begins shooting next month. Details regarding her character are under wraps, but she joins fellow newcomers to the franchise Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, and Sandrine Holt.
Written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, the eighteen-episode series centers on Charlie Cox’s Daredevil/Matt Murdock – attorney by day and crimefighter by night. Vincent D’Onofrio reprises his role as mob boss Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. [Source: Deadline]
Oscars
The 95th Academy Awards has had the “largest voter turnout” ever in the history of the Oscars following Oscar nomination voting closing on Tuesday night. Actors Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams will reveal the nominations on January 24th at 8:30am US-ET.
Bill Kramer, the Academy CEO sent a letter to all AMPAS members about this year’s “record-breaking participation” level from the over 9,579 eligible voting members across eighteen branches and representing more than 80 countries. [Source: Variety]
Emilia Perez
Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldaña, and Argentinian actor Karla Sofia Gascón will star in “A Prophet” and “Dheepan” director Jacques Audiard’s musical crime comedy “Emilia Perez” which will start shooting in France in April.
That’s six months after it was originally planned to film due to some scheduling conflicts. Gascón plays a feared, on-the-run Mexican cartel leader who has a sex change to get away from the law and become the woman he’s always wanted to be. Audiard and Thomas Bidegain penned the script. Animaniacs
Hulu has released the official trailer for the third and final season of Steven Spielberg’s animated revival series “Animaniacs” with Warner siblings Yakko, Wakko, and Dot returning on February 17th with ten episodes.
