The Benedict Cumberbatch-led Cold War spy thriller “Ironbark” has been retitled “The Courier” and will be released in cinemas on August 28th by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions. Dominic Cooke helms the film which tells the true story of an unassuming British businessman named Greville Wynne (Cumberbatch), who was recruited by MI-6 and the CIA to provide crucial intelligence needed to prevent a nuclear confrontation and defuse the Cuban Missile Crisis. Former Marvel Studios executive Jeremy Latcham has boarded the upcoming “Dungeons & Dragons” film as a producer after striking a first-look agreement Entertainment One. eOne has has taken over production of Hasbro’s library and “Game Night” directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are currently attached to write and direct the long gestating project. HBO’s “Chernobyl,” “Our Boys,” “Succession” and “Watchmen”; Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” “Unbelievable” and “When They See Us”; Hulu’s “Ramy”; Amazon’s “Fleabag” and “Good Omens”; Apple TV’s “Dickinson”; OWN’s “David Makes Man” and Disney+ short “Float” have all made the 2020 Peabody Awards nomination list. Derek Cianfrance
“Blue Valentine” and “The Place Beyond the Pines” helmer Derek Cianfrance, who also directed the upcoming limited series “I Know This Much Is True,” has set a two-year overall deal with HBO. Cianfrance will develop a range of projects for the premium cabler. The deal comes as the six-episode ‘True’, starring Mark Ruffalo as twin brothers, is set to debut on HBO on May 10th.
