A November 7th theatrical release date has been set for David Michod’s “Christy” starring Sydney Sweeney as trailblazing 1990s boxer Christy Martin who rise from small-town West Virginia to global stardom was shadowed by abuse and survival. Airman
“The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White is in talks to star while Ben Stiller will direct and produce “Airman,” a film adaptation of Seth Meyerowitz’s 2016 nonfiction book “The Lost Airman” at A24. Jake Gyllenhaal, John Lesher and P.J. van Sandwijk would also produce while Ben Shattuck (“History of Sound”) penned the script.
The story follows Arthur Meyerowitz, an American turret-gunner whose B-24 bomber was shot down over Vichy France in 1943. In hiding, he befriends the founder of the legendary French resistance group Reseau Morhange. An escape plan was hatched that saw the soldier cross into Spain and eventual freedom. Untitled NAVY Seal Feature
“Reacher” star Alan Ritchson is set to lead filmmaker Patrick Hughes’ untitled feature about Congressional Medal of Honor receipient and NAVY Seal Mike Thornton. Ritchson, Sylvester Stallone, Alan Rautbort, Todd Lieberman and Alex Young produce.
In the last days of the Vietnam war, Thornton lead a desperate last stand after five men are trapped behind enemy lines in North Vietnam – he lead the men to escape via hostile waters in the South China Sea. Ritchson, Mark Semos and Jason Hall penned the script. [Source: Deadline]
Fall 2
Harriet Slater, Arsema Thomas and Tom Brittney will star in “Fall 2,” the sequel to the 2022 psychological thriller “Fall” at Capstone Studios and Tea Shop Productions. Michael and Peter Spierig (“Predestination,” “Jigsaw”) will direct while original film scribe Scott Mann will pen the script along with Jonathan Frank.
In the film, a woman connects with her recently deceased sister’s best friend. They attempt the infamous plank walk of Mount Kwan in Thailand. After a sudden rockslide leaves them stranded on a fragile plank 3000 feet in the air, Jax must confront her deepest fears and fight for survival. [Source: Bloody Disgusting]
Untitled RuPaul Feature
14x Emmy winner RuPaul Charles will produce and star in a presently untitled campy action-comedy and marks the first feature film from the RuPaul’s Drag Race universe. Adam Shankman (“Hairspray”) will direct the project which Bleecker Street will give a nationwide theatrical release next year. Connor Wright and Christina Friel penned the script.
The story follows best friends and train stewardesses who trade their dreary shifts on the Stank Rail for the glitzy Glamazonian Express. When a catastrophic ‘Stormganza’ threatens to derail the high-speed train and crash it into Los Angeles, the duo in coach must join forces with the snobby first class attendants and President Judy Gagwell (RuPaul) to save the day.
