2021 Cannes Film Festival
2021 Cannes jury president Spike Lee has selected the jury to help him select the prestigious Palme d’Or at this year’s festival – Maggie Gyllenhaal, Song Kang-ho, Tahar Rahim, Melanie Laurent, Mati Diop, Mylene Farmer, Jessica Hausner and Kleber Mendonca Filho. The eight jurors will pick the winners of the competition slate to be announced in a ceremony on July 17th. [Source: The Playlist]
Manodrome
Jesse Eisenberg, Adrien Brody and Riley Keough are set to star in John Trengove’s nihilistic thriller “Manodrome” which will be unveiled at the Cannes virtual market. Keough, Gina Gammell and Ryan Zacarias are producing.
Eisenberg plays an Uber driver and aspiring bodybuilder who is inducted into a libertarian masculinity cult and loses his grip on reality when his repressed desires are awakened. [Source: THR]
Strangers
Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”) has set a cameo role in “Thor: Love and Thunder” writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s Hitchock-ian dark comedy “Strangers” on Netflix.
Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke play two girls, one an alpha ‘it girl’ the other a beta ‘alt girl’ who, after a clandestine meet-cute, team up to go after each other’s bullies. Robinson co-wrote with Celeste Ballard. [Source: Deadline]
Zack Snyder’s Justice League
A 4K UHD physical release of Zack Snyder’s new cut of “Justice League” is already out in Australia, and now its coming to the U.S. with a September 7th release date announced for 4K, Blu-ray and DVD versions of the title. [Source: WBHE]
