Karl Urban has posted a photo celebrating the series wrap on Amazon’s “The Boys”. Urban captions it “8 years, 5 seasons, 40 eps – what an incredible , life changing ride.” He thanks the show’s regular Toronto crew and then a quick thanks to Hawaiian crew for “such a fun / surreal way to wrap it all up”. George Lucas
“Star Wars” creator George Lucas is coming to San Diego Comic-Con for his first-ever panel to promote the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opening next year. The panel will take place in the cavernous Hall H of the San Diego Convention Centre on Sunday July 27th.
Queen Latifah will moderate the panel with filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and “Star Wars” prequels production designer Doug Chiang also participating. The panel of creators will discuss the role of narrative art in society. [Source: THR]
Sean Astin
“The Lord of the Rings” and “The Goonies” star Sean Astin is reportedly running for president of SAG-AFTRA – the film and TV actor’s union. Astin will run alongside “Star Trek: Picard” and “Blindspot” actress Michelle Hurd for secretary-treasurer.
If he succeeds, Astin would replace fomer “The Nanny” star Fran Drescher who has led the union as president since 2021 and famously managed the organization through the 118-day strike in 2023. Drescher has reportedly decided not to run again, but this hasn’t been confirmed. [Source: THR]
X-Men
Elle Fanning (“A Complete Unknown,” “The Great”) is rumored to be in the mix to play Jean Grey in Marvel Studios’ “X-Men” film being directed by Jake Schreier (“Thunderbolts”). Fanning will be seen later this year in “Predator: Badlands”. [Source: The Hot Mic]
IT: Welcome to Derry
Stephen King has shared a new poster for the upcoming “IT” prequel series “IT: Welcome to Derry” which will get a panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. The series is set to debut on HBO Max in October.
