Quick News Apple Minotaur Castle Hellboy

Apple has sent out invites to media asking them to join the company at its Cupertino headquarters in two weeks – March 25th. Apple is widely expected to unveil its subscription video service that day, and is likely also going to announce a revamped news subscription service. It is expected that the service won’t actually launch this month, but media will preview it ahead of a launch later this year. [Source: Variety]

Dean Israelite (“Power Rangers,” “Project Almanac”) has been set to write and direct the Johannesburg-set supernatural thriller “Minotaur” for Amblin Entertainment. Israelite and Aron Coleite fleshed out the story but plot specifics are under wraps. Jennifer Todd will produce. Israelite is currently working on a pilot about Africa’s ivory trade which he wrote and will direct for AGBO. [Source: Deadline]

Castle in the Ground
Alex Wolff and Imogen Poots have been set as the leads of writer-director Joey Klein’s crime drama “Castle in the Ground” at Woods Entertainment and Band With Pictures. William Woods and Michael Solomon are producing with filming now underway in Sudbury, Canada.

The story follows a teenager Henry who, after the untimely death of his mother, befriends his charismatic but troubled next-door neighbor Ana, who embroils Henry in a world of addiction and violence just as the opioid epidemic takes hold of their small town. [Source: Deadline]

Several more photos from Neil Marshall’s “Hellboy” reboot have gone online and include new looks at David Harbour’s Hellboy and Milla Jovovich as the ancient sorceress Nimue. In addition, there’s also first looks at two memorable characters from the comics – Baba Yaga and Gruagach. The new “Hellboy” opens April 12th.
