Though likely too little too late, the beleaguered shortform SVOD service Quibi has finally made its way to three of the major media players on the market – Apple TV, Amazon’s Fire TV and Google TV/Android TV (ala Chromecast).
Quibi’s quick-bite originals are now streaming on these platforms, the apps arriving six months after the service launched. For now, the startup hasn’t been able to make a deal with Roku.
The Quibi apps launched Monday, all the content displayed in landscape format only. To watch Quibi on the apps, users must have a Quibi account ($4.99/month with ads and $7.99/month without).
The apps arrive as a report in The Information indicates co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg has attempted to sell Quibi’s programming to Facebook and NBCUniversal while telling others he may have to shut down the company entirely.
