Scott Frank’s chess prodigy-themed limited series “The Queen’s Gambit” on Netflix has become the most-viewed scripted limited series to date on the service.
62 million member accounts have reportedly tuned in to the Anya Taylor-Joy led seven episode series in the first 28 days, though that’s based on the number of viewers who have watched at least 2 minutes of a piece of content.
The only series to have beaten it is the docoseries “Tiger King” which snagged 64 million in the same time. It reportedly made the Top 10 in 92 countries and ranked No. 1 in 63 countries, including the U.K., Argentina, Israel, and South Africa.
The series also made Nielsen’s streaming top 10, and has led to a massive spikes in sales for chess sets and boards which are up in sales from anywhere between 215% (eBay) to over 1000% (Goliath Games) according to Vanity Fair.
