Pulled “Black-ish” Episode Going To Hulu

A highly political episode of the comedy “Black-ish” that was pulled by the network before it was supposed to air in February 2018 is finally going to be shown – on Hulu.

Titled “Please Baby Please,” series creator and executive producer Kenya Barris took to social media today to explain the censored episode – the thirteenth episode of the comedy’s fourth season.

At the time an ABC spokesperson said “on this episode, there were creative differences we were unable to resolve”. At the time Barris said: “Given our creative differences, neither ABC nor I were happy with the direction of the episode and mutually agreed not to air it.”

Today, Barris explains that when he wrote the episode (which he also directed) in late 2017 that:

“We were one year post-election and coming to the end of a year that left us, like many Americans, grappling with the state of our country and anxious about its future. Those feelings poured onto the page, becoming 22 minutes of television that I was, and still am, incredibly proud of. ‘Please, Baby, Please’ didn’t make it to air that season and, while much has been speculated about its contents, the episode has never been seen publicly… until now.”

Of course the culture has shifted in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and the #BlackLivesMatter protests which prompted the re-evaluation. You can see the full post below:
