Two TV producers of note have sadly died. First up, Zack Estrin died Friday in Hermosa Beach at the age of 51.
Estrin got his start on films like “Stranger Than Fiction” and “O” and shows like “Charmed,” “Dawson’s Creek and “Tru Calling” before breaking out as co-executive producer of Fox’s “Prison Break”.
He became a showrunner and executive producer on ABC thrillers “The River” and “The Whispers,” and a co-creator and executive producer on “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland”.
More recently, he served as showrunner and executive producer of Netflix’s reimagining of “Lost in Space” for three seasons.
Also passing is Emmy-nominated comedy writer and producer Dale McRaven who died earlier this month of complications from lung cancer at his home in Porter Ranch, California. He was 83.
McRaven is best known for co-creating the iconic Robin Williams-led sitcom “Mork and Mindy” and then creating the long-running “Perfect Strangers”.
Other credits include “Angie,” “Gomer Pyle: USMC,” “The Odd Couple,” “Get Smart,” “The Betty White Show,” “The Texas Wheelers,” “The Partridge Family,” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show”.
