“Prince of Persia” Game Remake Delayed

Prince Of Persia Game Remake Delayed
Ubisoft

Ubisoft has formally delayed the Prince of Persia remake into 2022 along with revealing that the game won’t be at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference.

The publisher announced the delay on the game’s official Twitter account and thanked players for their support and understanding. Ubisoft said it would “share an update as soon as [it] is ready.”

The remake of this most iconic title of the franchise was first unveiled with a trailer at a Ubisoft Forward event in September 2020 where it was quickly lambasted by players for its dated visuals. At the time it was put down to a “unique visual treatment” the developers were giving the game, the delay suggests some retooling may be happening.

The recent pushes of “Skull & Bones,” “God of War: Ragnarok” and now this into 2022 or beyond is expected to be only some of the numerous delays of game titles that are taking longer in development. Pandemic conditions and restrictions around the world have made key elements of AAA game creation, like motion capture and orchestral recording sessions, difficult to pull off.

E3 also kicks off from the end of this week with publishers expected to firm up the rest of their 2021 slate – so expect more delay announcements in the next week or so.
