Prince Harry & Meghan Set “Lake” Film

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, also known as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, are trying out film production, with the pair having reportedly acquired screen rights to a romantic novel.

The Sun broke the news, revealing the book to be Canadian author Carley Fortune’s bestseller “Meet Me at the Lake” which was published in May this year.

Set near Toronto, the story follows a couple who meet in their thirties. It deals with themes of childhood trauma, mental health challenges and post-natal depression.

Markle was living in Toronto during her time working on the legal drama “Suits” which is where she began her relationship with Harry. An actual figure isn’t known, but the outlet suggests the screen rights deal could’ve been worth as much as $3.8 million.

The pair have previously delved into documentary-making and book publishing, but this marks the first scripted feature effort. The project will fall under their deal with Netflix, a deal worth a reported $100 million.

Production on the feature is unclear as with both the writer’s and actor’s strikes ongoing, when the film could begin production is uncertain.
