Only three years after it finished its seven-season run on Freeform, and a year after its last spin-off was cancelled, Warner Bros. Television has indicated they have no plans to let the “Pretty Little Liars” franchise lay dormant.
“Riverdale” and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is spearheading the reboot which will boast a whole new story and new characters with Aguirre-Sacasa set to pen the script for the young adult-focused mystery thriller.
A network is not yet attached and the project has not yet been taken out to possible buyers, though HBO Max is considered to be the target destination for the potential series.
Aguirre-Sacasa, Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo will executive produce. It’s not clear what involvement series creator I. Marlene King will have as she left Warners for Disney’s 20th TV last year.
