Amazon has reportedly made a $200 million offer to acquire the Chris Pratt-led sci-fi action feature “Tomorrow War” from Paramount Pictures and Skydance.
Betty Gilpin, J.K. Simmons, Yvonne Strahovski, Sam Richardson and Mary Lynn Rajskub co-star in the film which follows a man who is drafted into a war taking place in the future and whose past has an important role to play in winning.
If the deal goes through it would join other high profile studio film acquisitions with plans for release in 2021, joining both Paramount’s Eddie Murphy-led comedy sequel “Coming 2 America” and Skydance’s Michael B. Jordan-led adaptation of Tom Clancy’s novel “Without Remorse”.
Chris McKay (“The Lego Movie”) helms the film, which was originally planned for a Christmas 2020 theatrical release, from a script by Zach Dean. Until the deal goes through it remains on the theatrical release schedule for July 2021.
