Jane Campion’s dark western “The Power of the Dog” continues looking to be the one to beat at the Oscars in a few weeks with the Benedict Cumberbatch-led film taking multiple top awards over the weekend.

The movie scored the top prizes at the British film awards the BAFTAs and at the Critics Choice Awards. Campion herself also won best director at both along with snagging that top honor at the Director’s Guild Awards.

‘Power’ wasn’t the only winner though at the BAFTAs with Kenneth Branagh’s “Belfast” landing Best British Film amongst several awards over the weekend, whilst “Dune” took many technical honors including score, cinematography, production design, sound and effects.

Acting favorites are also firming up with Ariana DeBose (“West Side Story”), Will Smith (“King Richard”) and Troy Kotsur (“CODA”) again all scoring wins at both the BAFTAs and Critics Choice for their work.

“Drive My Car” won best international feature at both, while best-animated film was split with “Encanto” winning the BAFTA and “The Mitchells vs. The Machines” winning the Critics Choice.

The Critics Choice also has TV series wins with “Succession” and “Ted Lasso” the big winners while “Squid Game,” “Mare of Easttown,” and “The White Lotus” won multiple awards with “Hacks,” “Yellowjackets,” “Dopesick” and “Oslo” also scoring wins.
