“Poker Face” Series Cancelled…But May Live

Peacock

The Rian Johnson-created and Natasha Lyonne-led crime dramedy “Poker Face” has been axed by Peacock after two seasons. The good news is that the series has the chance to live on, albeit in a different form.

Lyonne starred in the series as Charlie Cale, a woman who possessed the unique ability to tell when someone was lying. Forced to live life on the run.

Deadline reports that Lyonne and series creator Rian Johnson are shopping the show to other platforms.

But what they’re shopping around is something different – this version will see “Game of Thrones” alum Peter Dinklage take over the role of Charlie Cale instead of Lyonne should the series return.

In a joint statement to the trade, Johnson and Lyonne say:

“We’ve been germinating this next move together since writing the Season 2 finale. We love our ‘Poker Face’ and this is the perfect way to keep it rolling. Give us a beat and we may just see Charlie Cale again down that open highway.”

Lyonne and Johnson are reportedly seeking a two-season commitment from the show’s potential new home, with Lyonne staying on board as an executive producer.

Whether co-showrunners Lilla and Nora Zuckerman would return is not clear.
