The imminent “Ted Lasso” third season finale is looking to very much be the show’s farewell as planned, according to new photos posted online by the show’s production designer Paul Cripps.
Hours ahead of its release, Cripps took to Instagram to show behind-the-scenes photos of the show’s sets being taken down, adding the caption “it’s the last episode of #TedLasso tonight.”
The photos include the AFC Richmond locker room, Rebecca’s office, Ted’s office, the club’s hallways and Mae’s pub all in a state of deconstruction.
Premiering on Apple TV+ in 2020, the Emmy-winning comedy starred Jason Sudeikis as the lovable American football coach who is hired as manager of British soccer club AFC Richmond. Ted eventually wins everyone over with his unrelenting optimism and folksy charm.
Sudeikis has always been clear that the series was conceived as a three-season show. Then in February this year, Warner Bros. Television Group CEO Channing Dungey told Deadline that whilst the third season offers an ending fans should be happy with, there is “also a way to crack open a door. If we’re fortunate enough to do more, we can keep on going.”
It’s not clear what that means, but certainly, the show as we know it is ending with last week’s penultimate episode laying enough groundwork that it’s pretty clear where the finale is going.
Where it could go from here and whether we’ll see any of these characters again – we’ll have to wait and see.
