The first photos have been released from Apple TV+ limited series “Black Bird,” author Dennis Lehane’s six-episode psychological thriller starring Taron Egerton, Paul Walter Hauser, Greg Kinnear and Ray Liotta.
Inspired by actual events, Egerton plays an imprisoned cop’s son who is offered a choice after being convicted of drug dealing.
He could serve out his ten years in a minimum-security prison sentence with no possibility of parole, or enter a maximum-security prison for the criminally insane where he must befriend a suspected serial killer (Hauser) and elicit a confession before the man’s appeal goes through.
Oscar-nominee Michael R. Roskam (“Bullhead,” “The Drop”) helms the first three episodes and executive produces alongside Lehane, Egerton and others. Jim McKay and Joe Chappelle also direct episodes.
The first two episodes launch Friday, July 8th followed by weekly releases.
