A new photo from producer Tod Garner has confirmed that Australian actor Damon Herriman’s interpretation of the Mortal Kombat character Quan Chi will appear in the upcoming “Mortal Kombat II” movie.
The character, a scheming necromancer, first appeared in some of the franchise’s middle games like “Mortal Kombat 4” and and “Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance”.
It has long been known that “Justified” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” actor Herriman was cast in the role, but the teaser trailer for the film showed no signs of the character.
Today’s photo, a behind-the-scenes shot from the set, has confirmed Quan Chi’s appearance in the film and lessened concerns from fans that the sinister sorcerer has been cut from the film.
Karl Urban stars as Johnny Cage, alongside Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han/Sub-Zero, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion.
This time, the fighters are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds-barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.
The film, which was originally slated for October 24th 2025, is currently set to arrive in cinemas on May 8th 2026.
