The first photo has been released of actor/director Kenneth Branagh under pounds of make-up playing current British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The actor takes on the role of the controversial political leader in “This Sceptred Isle,” a five-part Sky original series about the early days of the pandemic in the U.K. and which hails from “The Trip” franchise helmer Michael Winterbottom.
Set to air in August 2022, the currently in production series will trace the impact on Britain from this once-in-a-generation pandemic, and the response of scientists, nurses, and doctors as they worked tirelessly and heroically to contain and overcome the virus.
Fremantle, Passenger and Revolution Films are backing the project which Winterbottom co-wrote with Kieron Quirke. Richard Brown, Melissa Parmenter, Josh Hyams and Anthony Wilcox produce.
