“You Were Never Really Here” filmmaker Lynne Ramsay will re-team with Oscar-winner Joaquin Phoenix for her newly announced feature “Polaris”.
In addition, Phoenix’s partner actress Rooney Mara (“The Social Network,” “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”) is also taking on a key role.
Specifics of the plot are under wraps Ramsay herself is the one who revealed the casting news, telling Spanish outlet El Espanol:
“He’s crazy, but he’s the best actor I’ve ever met. Everything he does on the set has a reason. It’s much more difficult when you come up with an original idea like this, but it’s impossible not to get excited when you’re preparing a movie with Joaquin.”
It’s not clear when filming on “Polaris” will begin. Phoenix is currently shooting “Hereditary” director Ari Aster’s “Disappointment Blv” in Montreal” and will soon play Napoleon Bonaparte in Ridley Scott’s “Kitbag”.
Ramsey is also developing film adaptations of two literary works – Margaret Atwood’s short story “Stone Mattress,” and Stephen King’s novel “The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon”.
