“Andi Mack” actress Peyton Elizabeth Lee will star in the lead role in the upcoming “Doogie Howser, M.D.” remake for Disney+.
Titled “Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.” and set in modern Hawaii, the ten-episode series follows a mixed-race sixteen-year-old girl named Lahela ‘Doogie’ Kamealoha who is juggling a budding medical career and life as a teenager.
Her family includes a spit-fire Irish mother who is also her supervisor at the hospital, and her ‘Local Boy’ father struggling to accept that his daughter is no longer his little girl.
The series will be written and executive produced by Kourtney Kang (“How I Met Your Mother”). Dayna Bochco, Jesse Bochco, Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar also executive produce
Neil Patrick Harris starred in the original early 1990s series about a teenage physician who tries to balance practising medicine with standard teenager problems.
