Disney+ has announced that production has kicked off in Vancouver on Walt Disney Studios’ newest live-action film adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s classic 1911 novel “Peter Pan & Wendy”.
Partly inspired by their own 1953 animated version of the story, this new take is helmed by “Pete’s Dragon” and “The Old Man and the Gun” helmer David Lowery and follows a young girl who, defying her parents’ wishes to attend boarding school, travels with her two younger brothers to the magical Neverland.
There, she meets a boy who refuses to grow up, a tiny fairy and an evil pirate captain, and they soon find themselves on a thrilling and dangerous adventure. Lowery and Toby Halbrooks co-wrote the script.
Set to make its debut in 2022, the live-action film will be led by newcomers Alexander Molony, and Milla Jovovich’s daughter Ever Anderson as the titular youngsters. Also starring are Jude Law as Captain Hook, Molly Parker and Alan Tudyk as Mrs. and Mr. Darling, Jim Gaffigan as Smee, and Yara Shahidi as Tinkerbell.
